Lesley Jenike | September 10–11

Creative nonfiction writer and poet Lesley Jenike will read at 6 p.m. on Sept. 10 in the Bingham Poetry Room in the Ekstrom Library, and she will lead a generative writing session on Sept. 11 from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by a closing reception (new this year!) from noon to 1 p.m. – an opportunity for casual conversation with our visiting writer and fellow creative writing community members. Friday’s events will take place in Miller Information Technology Center 201.

Jamoa Wooten lives his life guided by three words that inspire him to make big moves: initiative, intent, and impact. 

A nontraditional student who is projected to graduate this December at age 43 with a degree in Criminal Justice, Wooten expanded his experience by venturing outside of his comfort zone to perform in Pipeline, a recent Theatre Arts Department production.

Rasitha Jayesekere has spent her life turning ambitious dreams into reality: moving to the United States, earning a PhD in mathematics, and now, becoming a full professor. 

“I dream all the time,” she states. “My dad taught me how to dream since I was very young, and my mom taught me how to work efficiently. I dream, set goals, plan, work hard, and achieve them. My motivation is my dreams.”
